UAL Online, LCF MA Fashion Marketing Graduate Evgeni

For business owner Evgeni, studying fashion has always been about growth - creatively, professionally, and personally. Originally from Bulgaria, Evgeni lived in London for 15 years before moving to China. After working in fashion for over a decade, he was ready to take his next step - and only one university came to mind: the University of the Arts London (UAL).

We spoke with Evgeni about how an online MA Fashion Marketing course helped him expand his skills, grow his business, and inspire others around the world.

What inspired you to study an MA in Fashion Marketing?

I’ve been in the fashion industry for more than 10 years, and I reached a point where I felt I was missing something. The industry is constantly changing, it’s fast, challenging, and always evolving.

Why did you choose to study online?

I’m based in China, and I wanted to achieve my next goal without sacrificing what I already built. That’s why the online community was so appealing. It’s the same course, the same subjects, and the same high-quality teaching, just delivered flexibly. I was really happy to meet people from around the globe.

What impact has your learning had on your fashion business?

The course has given me a really nice package of skills which has helped me boost my career and get more opportunities. It's helped me become more aware of the market. Now I can apply marketing principles directly to my own fashion designs - and that has helped me sell more of my designs.

I now have the 3 main pillars of fashion: design and development, technical skills [the patterns and the construction], and now I have the marketing and strategy.

What’s next for you? You mentioned you’re also teaching now - tell us more!

Yes, I’m currently teaching fashion design - this has been a personal goal for me: to educate the next generation of fashion designers and to teach sustainability across the world.

I’m now considering researching for a PhD. My tutors at UAL were such an inspiration to me, now I want to be that same inspiration for my students.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about studying online?

Trust the process. Don’t be afraid to experiment and challenge yourself.
